I mean yeah they're totally down to just throw power armor and laser rifles and shit to the wind for an advantage in combat, but I don't think they'd be stupid enough to put something as versatile, useful and exclusive as the Vertibird into a combat position. I thought they'd use them very sparingly for transport or something. And if that wasn't stupid enough, how the hell did the Brotherhood of Steel get vertibirds? Enough that they can just throw them willy nilly into combat roles no less. I mean I'm pretty sure thats what was said in Fallout 2, that the Enclave began production on Vertibirds after the Great War. I thought those weren't even built until after the Great War. Seriously, how the fuck did remnants of the Enclave get from California to Washington DC, along with the Super Mutants? Or the Vertibirds in Fallout 4.

I will never get over how stupid Fallout 3 is. I should've known better than to expect a good story from Bethesda.

As a result, despite the war having taken place two centuries ago, the R91 can be found commonly throughout the ruins of D.C., currently utilized by slavers and raiders as well as sold by legitimate traders and arms dealers. The weapon was used by troops on the Anchorage front and served as the National Guard's standard issue rifle during urban pacification operations, who were fully deployed in Washington D.C. Chambered for 5.56mm ammunition, the R91 full-auto urban assault rifle is common throughout the Capital Wasteland.

Manufactured by civilian defense contractor Stent Security Solutions, the R Series of combat assault rifles was used reliably following the discontinuation of the M series in the early 21st century. Gameplay articles: Fallout 3, Fallout Shelter
